FIB UNDIP – The proud achievement was again made by the students of the Faculty of Cultural Studies of Diponegoro University. Emka Theater succeeded in performing brilliantly in the Semarang Theater Festival which was held on October 26, 2025 at Raden Saleh Cultural Park, Semarang.
In the event held by the Semarang Arts Council, the Emka Theater successfully won the 1st place in the Semarang City Theater Performance, as well as winning a number of prestigious subcategory awards.
Award Dominance in Various Categories
Not only came out as the main champion, Emka Theater also carved out achievements in various subcategories. The play titled “Sepotong Kursi Untuk Dibagi-bagi” was named the Best Script. In addition, the production team also won the Best Light Arranger, Best Costume Arranger, and Best Female Actor awards.
This achievement is proof of solid collective work between the cast, crew, and creative team of the Emka Theater. Each element of the performance is mature and reinforces each other, resulting in a staging that is not only artistically strong, but also emotionally touching.
Social Criticism from the Point of View of City Trams
The play “A Piece of Chair to Be Shared” raises social criticism that is close to urban reality. The story is presented from the point of view of the city’s homeless, those who are often marginalized, ignored, but still struggle to survive. With an honest approach and as it is, this play invites the audience to see the human side that often escapes attention.
The script and directing of this play was worked on by Damar Hisyam, a student of the Indonesian Literature Study Program class of 2022. Through his work, Damar succeeded in voicing social anxiety with a straightforward, relevant, and easy-to-understand theater language, without losing the depth of meaning.
