Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University (FIB Undip), through its Doctoral Program in History, once again held an international academic event through a Visiting Professor program featuring Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Bin Mohd Nor from the Department of Islamic History, Civilization and Education, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia.

Thematic Focus of the Visiting Professor Program with Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Bin Mohd Nor

The opening ceremony took place on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the Meeting Room of the Department of History, FIB Undip. This session featured a keynote lecture titled “Some Strategic Issues and Methodologies of Research on Radicalism in Southeast Asia.” The theme is highly relevant in addressing global challenges related to radicalism studies from both historical and methodological perspectives.

The event was officially opened by the Dean of FIB Undip, Prof. Dr. Alamsyah, M.Hum., and attended by the Head of the Undergraduate History Program, Prof. Dr. Drs. Dhanang Respati Puguh, M.Hum., the Head of the Master’s and Doctoral History Programs, Dr. Drs. Haryono Rinardi, M.Hum., the Secretary of the Undergraduate Program, Dr. Rabith Jihan Amaruli, M.Hum., history professors such as Prof. Dr. Dra. Yety Rochwulaningsih, M.Si., Prof. Dr. Drs. Singgih Tri Sulistiyono, M.Hum., and Prof. Dr. Dra. Endah Sri Hartatik, M.Hum., along with faculty members and student representatives of the History Program.

The Importance of International Research Collaboration

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Alamsyah emphasized the importance of international research collaboration, particularly in encouraging publications in reputable academic journals. He stated that the presence of Prof. Roslan offers a great opportunity for joint research, joint publications, and the potential development of double degree programs and international student exchanges.

“Universiti Malaya is one of the world’s top universities. This collaboration could serve as a powerful momentum for all of us to elevate our research quality and strengthen our global academic networks,” said Prof. Alamsyah.

He also encouraged lecturers, especially those in the doctoral program, to take full advantage of this opportunity to enhance their academic capacities through joint publications with Prof. Roslan, who also serves as an editor in high-ranking international journals.

Next Agenda of the Visiting Professor Program

The Visiting Professor program continued with a special agenda titled “Article Consultation & Mentoring” aimed at postgraduate students (Master’s and Doctoral) of the History Program. These consultation and mentoring sessions were held over four days, from June 2 to June 5, 2025, according to the following schedule:

Monday, June 2: 1:00 PM–4:00 PM
Tuesday, June 3: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM and 1:00 PM–4:00 PM
Wednesday, June 4: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM and 1:00 PM–4:00 PM
Thursday, June 5: 8:00 AM–10:00 AM (General Overview)

With intensive mentoring sessions, participants were encouraged to enhance the quality of their academic writing to meet the standards of reputable international journals.

This event represents a concrete step by FIB Undip to support the World Class University (WCU) initiative and further strengthen Diponegoro University’s position as a leading higher education institution in the development of humanities and historical studies on a global scale.
