FIB UNDIP – In order to commemorate the 60th Dies Natalis of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences of Diponegoro University (FIB Undip), the entire academic community held an Ancestral Pilgrimage activity on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at the Undip Family Cemetery, Tembalang, Semarang, at 06.00 Western Indonesia Time.
This activity becomes one of the reflective moments in the series of celebrations of six decades of the FIB Undip journey, as a form of tribute to the predecessors who have laid a strong foundation for the development of the faculty until now.
Respecting and Praying for the Predecessors
The pilgrimage activity began with a speech from the Dean of FIB Undip, Prof. Dr. Alamsyah, M.Hum., who emphasized the importance of remembering the services of the ancestors as a form of gratitude and a reminder of the values of struggle that have been inherited.
“This series of Dies Natalis FIB 60 hopefully will be a momentum to ask for ease in achieving the ideals of the faculty and blessings in every step. It is from our ancestors that we learn to imitate positive steps that inspire the present and the future. May the ancestors have their graves spread and get the best place on God’s side,” said Prof. Alamsyah in his speech.
After the greeting, the event continued with a joint prayer to pray for the souls of the predecessors of FIB Undip who have contributed to building the foundation of science, cultural values, and the spirit of togetherness in the campus environment.
Sowing Flowers and Reflective Meaning
The procession was followed by sowing flowers at the graves of the ancestors of FIB Undip, which was solemnly carried out by the ranks of faculty leaders, professors, head of the study program, senior lecturers, and educational personnel. A warm and full atmosphere of emotion is felt enveloping the funeral site, showing deep respect and love for those who have contributed to the continuity of the faculty.
Ancestral pilgrimage is not just an annual tradition, but also a tangible manifestation of FIB Undip’s commitment to maintaining spiritual and cultural values. In an academic context, this activity becomes a symbol of appreciation for the history and contribution of the predecessors who have paved the way for the next generation.
Rooted in Value and History
As a faculty rooted in humanities studies, FIB Undip places respect for ancestors as an important part of academic and cultural ethos. Through this pilgrimage activity, the academic community is invited not to forget history, preserve noble values, and continue the spirit of togetherness that has been inherited since the beginning of the faculty.
Pilgrimage to the Ancestor is a reminder that the academic and institutional progress of FIB Undip today cannot be separated from the dedication, sacrifice, and hard work of its predecessors. At the age of 60, FIB Undip is determined to keep moving forward, rooted in history, growing with culture, and working for the future of the nation.
