FIB UNDIP – The Faculty of Cultural Studies of Diponegoro University (FIB Undip) once again strengthens its foothold in the international arena. This time, through the Japanese Language and Culture Study Program (BKJ), FIB Undip established a strategic synergy with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This collaboration presents native speaker teachers who will accompany the teaching and learning process directly on our campus.
For the next two years, the presence of Abe Akari, Nakahara Jiro, and Febria will give a new color to the academic atmosphere in the “Cultural Campus” environment. Their presence is not only increasing the number of teachers, but also the faculty’s efforts to provide a more authentic and inclusive learning space for all students.
More than Just Language Literacy
Learning Japanese is certainly not enough just by memorizing kanji or dissecting grammar from textbooks. The presence of the teaching staff from JICA is projected to be a living cross-cultural bridge.
BKJ Undip students now have a discussion space to interact directly, dissect the nuances of sociolinguistic communication of Japanese society, to adopt the values of professionalism such as discipline and integrity that are the hallmark of the nation.
FIB Undip sees this intensive interaction as an important instrument to foster students’ confidence. The clear goal is for students to not only excel theoretically, but also have cultural agility when entering the global community.
Preparing Graduates for the Global Stage
This collaborative step is part of the faculty roadmap in producing graduates who are relevant to the needs of the international job market. With direct guidance from practitioners and native speakers, students are expected to be able to achieve qualified language competence standards.
This is certainly a valuable provision, both for those who aspire to pursue a career in a multinational company and those who plan to continue their studies in Japan.
