FIB UNDIP – The presence of Generative AI is now increasingly close to our academic and daily activities. However, how do we stay wise and critical in filtering the information generated by artificial intelligence?

Answering this big challenge, the S1 Study Program of Library and Information Science at the Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University (FIB Undip) successfully held a Visiting Lecturer agenda on Monday, May 25, 2026 through a Zoom Meeting. This prestigious event was opened directly with a warm welcome from the Dean of FIB Undip, Prof. Dr. Alamsyah, M.Hum..

AI, Fact Test, and The Art of Decision Making

This public lecture feels very special because it presents a world-class expert, Dr. Hamzah Osop (expert from Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore).

Following the theme “Enhancing Critical Thinking Skills in the Use of Generative AI, Fact-Checking, and Decision-Support”, he thoroughly explained the importance of maintaining critical reasoning when utilizing AI technology.

In his presentation, Dr. Hamzah emphasized that even though AI offers convenience, the fact-checking process or testing the validity of facts remains entirely in the hands of humans to avoid information bias before a decision is made.

Enthusiasm and Interactive Discussion Room

The discussion is very lively and interactive, guided by a team of Undip Library Science lecturers. The participants who joined through the virtual space seemed enthusiastic to launch various discussions about the future of information literacy in this AI onslaught era.

Through this Visiting Lecturer-scale international activity, FIB Undip once again proves its commitment to continue to equip students with adaptive, critical, and solutive global insights towards the development of the times.
