FIB UNDIP – The Department of Literature, Faculty of Humanites, Diponegoro University (FIB Undip) has again succeeded in expanding the academic horizons of its students. Through the Undip Global Classroom (UGC) 2026 program, this department held an international public lecture entitled “Feminism Literature”.

This agenda was successfully carried out online through the Microsoft Teams platform on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, starting at 13.00 Western Indonesia Time.

Presenting a Global Perspective from Malaysia and the US

To dissect the close relationship between literary works and the women’s emancipation movement, the Department of Literature presents two cross-country experts as the main speakers:

  1. Dr. Rohaya Md Ali from Universiti Utara Malaysia.
  2. Ankita Rathour, Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology, United States.

The two speakers interactively invited students to delve into how literary texts are able to capture women’s voices, break gender stereotypes, and become tools for social struggle. The presence of perspectives from the east and west gives a new color in the critical discussion of students about the theory of feminist literature.

Women’s Voice, Inspiration for Change

Carrying the jargon “Empowered Voices, Inspired Change”, this public lecture is not just a knowledge transfer room in a virtual classroom. This activity becomes a real commitment of FIB Undip to foster inclusive and sensitive thinking towards global humanitarian issues.

Through this UGC program, the Department of Literature hopes that students will be able to hone their critical skills in appreciating literary works as well as reading the social dynamics of today’s world more wisely.
